Overview

The intervention C.3.1.1 – “Productive Investment in the Bioeconomy – Modernisation” aims to support the development of the Bioeconomy, enhancing the competitiveness of the agricultural and forestry sectors. It provides support for investment in bioeconomy-related companies linked to agriculture or forestry, predominantly focused on tangible assets, with the objective of improving competitive performance through increased production capacity, knowledge-based value creation, innovative processes and products, improved product quality, efficient resource management, and the use of renewable energy sources.

This intervention typology supports investments in new agro-industrial units and the modernisation of existing units, limited to the agricultural sector.

Nature and Aid Intensity

Support is granted in the form of a non-repayable grant, with the following funding rates:

– 50% for eligible investment up to €250,000;
– 45% for eligible investment above €250,000 and up to €2,000,000;
- Maximum grant per application: €600,000.

Applicants may opt for pre-defined unit costs or reimbursement of actual costs.

Eligible Actions

Support may be granted to operations aimed at:

- Creation of new agro-industrial units or modernisation of existing units;
- Investments promoting the valorisation of by-products, the energy transition, and increased efficiency of production processes;
- Projects contributing to quality certification, digitalisation and sustainability.

Beneficiaries and Geographical Scope

Eligible applicants include natural or legal persons engaged in the processing or marketing of agricultural products. Projects must be implemented in mainland Portugal.
