Overview

This mechanism allows companies to initiate planned investments before submitting a formal application, without implying any prior funding decision or financing commitment. The Aid Application Registration (RPA) is currently open and runs on a continuous basis until the launch of the Call for Applications under the Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation Incentive Scheme.

Type of Operation

This intervention typology aims to support the reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissionsthis is achieved through the replacement, adaptation or introduction of low-carbon equipment, processes and technologies, complemented, where appropriate, by the integration of renewable energy sources.

Beneficiaries, Location, and Modality

Eligible beneficiaries include companies of any size, through individual or under a co-promotion projectsSupported operations must be located in the NUTS II regions of Norte, Centro, Alentejo and Algarve.

Eligible Expenditure

A. Interventions not involving buildings The investment costs, or additional investment costs, required to achieve the highest level of energy efficiency.
B. Interventions involving buildings Eligible costs correspond to the total investment costs.
C. Eligible cost categories:

I. Tangible assets: acquisition or adaptation of equipment, which may include, on a complementary basis, renewable energy installations and interventions aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings;
II. Intangible assets: acquisition and development of digital solutions, software and technologies;
III. Other investment-related costs, including expenses related to the intervention of certified accountants or statutory auditors, studies, energy diagnostics and audits, and certifications.

Nature, Form and Aid Intensity

Support is granted in the form of a non-repayable grant, under the terms to be defined in the relevant call for applications.Funding rates are determined as follows:

A. Interventions not involving buildings A base rate of up to 100%.
B. Interventions involving buildings A base rate of up to 30%, increased by the following possible uplifts::

I. Up to 10 percentage points for medium-sized companies and up to 20 percentage points for micro and small companies;
II. Up to 15 percentage points for operations located in Norte, Centro or Alentejo, and up to 5 percentage points for areas classified as zone c) under the Regional Aid Map;
III. Up to 15 percentage points where the intervention results in an energy efficiency improvement of at least 40% in the building.
